A Life Was Saved: Atlantic City, NJ Police “Clap Out” [Amazing Photos]
The City of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Atlantic City Police and neighboring law enforcement all came together for a “clap out” ceremony, with a complete honor guard escort.
While The Actual Details Have Never Been Shared

Make no mistake about it, Atlantic City Police Sergeant Christopher Ivanov came excruciatingly close to losing his life on June 2, 2026.

Just 16 days later, Ivanov was released from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (city division).
Here’s How They Did It

First, it was incredibly well trained Atlantic City Police Department SWAT members, who took immediate life-saving action to save Ivanov’s life at the scene of the shooting … they made a life-saving, moment of truth decision not to wait and they directly transported Ivanov to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
From there, the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center saved Ivanov’s life, again, by demonstrating the elite medical skills that they possess.
It was a masterclass collaboration of the AtlantiCare doctors, nurses, surgeons, and trauma specialists, who with no warning … took immediate life-saving action.
Atlantic City Police Chief Jim Sarkos

You'll never know how much you guys mean to us, Atlantic City Police Chief James Sarkos told the AtlantiCare team during the recent city council meeting. We are forever indebted to you, said Sarkos.
The Sidewalks Were Lined

Numerous police officers, hospital employees, city leaders, family members, friends, and supporters lined sidewalks outside of AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center to witness and support Ivanov being discharged from the hospital.

On The Day Of The Police Sergeant Shooting — Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small

The fine men and women in blue of the Atlantic City Police Department put their lives on the line every day to protect our community, and I am grateful for their courage. We truly have the best police department in the world. My thoughts and prayers are with the two Atlantic City police officers who were wounded this afternoon, as well as their families, and the entire Atlantic City Police Department during this difficult time. We are hopeful for their full and speedy recovery. Any additional information regarding this incident will be released by the Atlantic City Police Department or the New Jersey Office of Attorney General, said Mayor Small.
Small was also at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center within minutes of the shooting to support the Sergeant, his family and a second police officer, who was also taken to the hospital.
