To say the video announcing Thursday's release of AtantiCare's 99th and 100th COVID-19 positive patients being released and watching the celebration by hospital personnel as the patients were paraded through the halls on their way home was the happiest news I've had all week would be an understatement.

The truth is it gave me chills.

Linda Goodman of Mays Landing left AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus's in Pomona followed by Eliecer Miguel-Mendez, who left ARMC's Atlantic City campus.

Providers and staff of both campuses lined the hallways as they thanked and congratulated the patients to the tune of “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles.

Edward Hamaty, D.O., chairman, Critical Care, AtlantiCare summed up the feeling of all at AtlantiCare.

“We only had a peek of sunshine in Atlantic County on this cloudy day. But inside the hospital campuses, smiles were shining brightly behind our masks. Our dedicated care team is pleased to honor these and all our patients and their families who have been impacted by COVID-19. We urge the community to join us in recognizing them and all healthcare providers and essential workers by continuing to practice social distancing, masking in public, washing hands thoroughly, and seeking care for symptoms of COVID-19 and other illnesses.”
