August A.C. Shooting Suspects Charged With Murder, One at Large
MAYS LANDING - The grisly gunshot death of a robbery victim in Atlantic City last August results in a laundry list of charges against two defendants, led by first-degree felony murder. One is on the run.
Bashawn K. Whitted-Scott, 25, and Brian S. Richardson, 26, are suspected of killing Deshawn Dawkins on August 27, according to the office of Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.
They each also face a first-degree count of robbery while armed resulting in death, second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, and two second-degree weapons charges, authorities said.
The shooting took place in the vicinity of 8 South Virginia Avenue.
A search for Richardson continues. He is considered a fugitive from justice. Whitted-Scott is in custody in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
