The latest retailer filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy has been making salt water taffy, fudge, and macaroons for over 138 years.

The Press of Atlantic City is reporting the James Candy Company, makers of Fralinger's Salt Water Taffy, has filed for bankruptcy.

Some of the reasons for the bankruptcy proceedings include this summer's wet and rainy weather and declining sales according to the report.

James Candy Company has nearly a dozen stores in South Jersey, including locations on the Atlantic City, Ocean City, Cape May, and Wildwood boardwalks.

The company will still continue payment for vendors and employees including benefits.

There will also be no change in operations the product will not be affected before, during, and after the upcoming 2018 holiday season.
