‘Belt around her neck’ – husband charged with killing wife in Ocean County, NJ
A South Toms River man has been charged with murder following the death of his wife.
38-year-old Gustavo Juarez-Perez was taken into custody Saturday night. He is facing the following charges:
- Murder
- Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
- Unlawful possession of a weapon
On March 8th at about 9:15 PM, the South Toms River Police Department received a 9-1-1 call about an unconscious woman at a home on Hummel Drive.
Responding officers say they found 30-year-old Cheyanne Juarez unconscious on the floor with blood on her face and a belt around her neck.
Emergency lifesaving measures were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the South Toms River Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Gustavo Juarez-Perez was allegedly responsible for his wife’s death.
Juarez-Perez was taken into custody at the home without incident. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail where he is being held pending a detention hearing.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
