Cape May, NJ, Named the Best Fishing Town in New Jersey

There are so many great spots in New Jersey to wet a line and spend a day fishing, but one South Jersey spot is considered the best in the entire state.

The website FishingBooker compiled its list of the best fishing towns in 38 states by analyzing data from over 100,000 fishing trips and reviews from the past year.

They scored towns based on the following criteria:

• Number of available fishing charters
• Average review score
• Average recommended score
• Number of guides with the Angler’s Choice Award (FishingBooker’s award for the top guides on the platform)
• Number of bookings
• Minimum price of a fishing trip

Overall 10 different New Jersey towns were ranked, with Atlantic City, Ocean City, Avalon, Belmar, Brigantine, Brick Township, Highlands, Somers Point and Point Pleasant all ranking behind one South Jersey town.

According to FishingBooker and their list of ‘The Best Fishing Towns in Each US State in 2024,’ the number one spot in New Jersey to fish is Cape May.

Right across the river from Cape May is Lewes, DE made the list as the top spot to fish in the First State. Delaware also had Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Rehoboth Beach, and Selbyville considered for the top spot.
