One of America’s Most Beautiful Towns is Tucked Away in New Jersey
A popular travel publication has named a quaint little town in the Garden State as one of the most beautiful in America.
- This city has an official population of only about 2,800
- That number skyrockets during the summer
- It was originally founded in 1848
Editors at Conde Nast Traveler recently released their list of over two dozen of the most beautiful towns, both big and small, in our great country.
Whether they have over-the-top American charm or proximity to some of the loveliest landscapes on earth, these idylls are worth a stopover, at the very least. And don't worry, you won't run out of things to do: These small towns are home to local boutiques, tons of outdoor activities, and restaurant-to-people ratios that lean way in your favor.
Can You Guess Which NJ Beach Town Made the Cut?
And among those dozens of towns is one of the brightest gems in the entire State of New Jersey.
Here's a hint: it's a beach town. You may have been able to guess that when we said their small population jumps when the weather turns warm.
But which beach town? Many spots are certainly award-worthy.
How about Avon-by-the-sea? Nope.
By the way, the average home there sells for about $2.5 million.
It's not any spot on Long Beach Island...
It's not Stone Harbor...
The Most Beautiful Town in NJ? Cape May
The big winner: Cape May.
Specifically, about Cape May, Conde Nast said,
A perfect marriage of charm and history, the town’s historic Victorian district, and miles of intricate, candy-colored manses make for prime early-morning-stroll viewing.
Why Cape May Keeps Visitors Coming Back
Of course, anyone who has spent any amount of time in Cape May immediately plans a return trip.
The city features countless B&Bs, a bandstand in the middle of town with live music, colorful streets, charming little restaurants, shops selling anything under the sun, amazing beaches, and more.
And we can't forget about the city's world-class bird watching, the concrete shipwreck, and the lighthouse.
Other towns making the list include:
- Cannon Beach, OR
- Leavenworth, WA
- Bar Harbor, ME
- Magnolia Spring, AL
