Why dozens of NJ cops will be swarming Cape May Zoo Thursday
There will be a lot more going on than just zebras and giraffes walking around at the Cape May County Zoo and Park on Thursday.
Huge police training exercise at the Cape May Zoo
On the heels of a beautiful weekend where everyone flocked to the Cape May Zoo — so many people that thousands had to be turned away when it reached capacity — now comes word of another big event taking place.
This one, however, does not involve animals.
The Middle Township Police Department says on Thursday, April 3rd, their officers, along with the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and other local, county, and federal agencies will be conducting a training exercise from 10 AM to 2 PM.
This drill, in particular, involves the Cape May County Child Abduction Team and its work in obtaining national certification.
Their work, especially at a location that thousands of children visit every month, will enhance the skills of those who are called upon to find kids that go missing.
Authorities say,
We appreciate your patience and understanding as the Cape May County Child Abduction Response Team conducts this extremely important training exercise. CART is committed to the protection of children in our community and the response to any endangered or missing children.
Due to the training exercise, the zoo will be closed on Thursday.
