Respect for the highly contagious COVID-19 and the Omicron variant have forced the postponement, not the cancellation, of a much anticipated upcoming South Jersey event.

Senator Vince Polistina, R-2 understands that now is not the time to bring a large number of people to congregate together in close company.

Therefore, a victory celebration, long-scheduled for this Thursday, January 13, 2022, will have to be delayed.

The event was billed as an “Inauguration Celebration.”

It is a thank you event for friends, family, and supporters of Polistina and New Jersey Assembly members-elect Claire Swift and Don Guardian.

Polistina, Swift, and Guardian defeated Assemblymen Vince Mazzeo, John Armato, and Atlantic County Commissioner Caren Fitzpatrick for the 3 state legislative seats in the recent past November 2, 2021, General Election.

Polistina, Swift, and Guardian were elected to 2-year terms.

This Thursday’s “Inauguration Celebration” also would have included New Jersey Gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciatterelli and New Jersey Republican Party Chairman Bob Hugin.

The event would have brought many hundreds of people to Smithville Inn in Galloway Township, New Jersey.

Polistina, Swift and Guardian shared the following rationale for the necessary postponement:

We are unfortunately postponing this Thursday's Inauguration Party out of an abundance of caution due to the recent spike in COVID19 cases.  Although we are the ones raising our right hand and swearing an oath, this party was about thanking all of our supporters who helped us make history in Atlantic County.

We want to make sure that all our friends, volunteers and supporters get an opportunity to attend this event.  We do not want anyone to miss out.

Stay tuned for updates.  Thank you all again and we look forward to seeing you soon.
