Dolphins Take Southern Regional H.S. TE Mike Gesicki in 2nd round
In the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins took a local product.
Penn State alum Mike Gesicki, a tight end from Southern Regional high school in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township in Ocean County, was taken 42nd overall by the Dolphins.
Gesicki will join the Dolphins with a chance to be their top tight end right away, competing with MarQueis Gray and Gavin Escobar to be the starter in Miami.
The 6-foot-6, 247-pound Gesicki had 57 receptions for 563 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior in 2017, and 129 grabs for 1,481 and 15 overall touchdowns in four years in Happy Valley.
The former Southern Regional star was considered one of the best receiving and athletic tight ends in the draft.
