A convicted felon from South Carolina is headed to prison for trafficking guns and ammunition into New Jersey.

Torell Brown of Orangeburg, SC, Sentenced

49-year-old Torell Brown of Orangeburg, SC, was sentenced to 92 months, or about 7 1/2 years, in prison on charges of conspiracy to unlawfully sell firearms, possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon, and conspiracy to traffic firearms.

Federal authorities say in April and May 2021, Brown conspired to unlawfully sell firearms to at least one New Jersey resident. He trafficked six firearms and a large quantity of ammunition from South Carolina to New Jersey.

From March through May, 2021, Brown also conspired to traffic firearms and ammunition into New Jersey for use in connection with at least one other felony offense.

In addition to the prison term, Brown was sentenced to three years of supervised release.
