Former hotel burns in Ocean Grove

OCEAN GROVE — An early morning fire burned a multi-level condo on the Jersey Shore early Friday morning.

Witness Bud McCormick said fire officials told him the three-alarm fire was at the La Pierre condominium, a multi-story building on Beach Avenue in Ocean Grove that was the former LaPierre Hotel.

ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported the fire destroyed at least three buildings.

Crews from Asbury Park and Neptune Township are assisting with the fire, according to NBC 4 New York.

Witness Lisa Cox commented on the Jersey Shore Hurricane News Facebook page her mother saw people running out with their pets.

Beach Avenue amd Seaview Avenue in Ocean Grove are both closed because of the fire.

McCormick said the fire started just after 5 a.m.
