100 MPH+ Parkway Joyride, Eluding Police Sends NJ Man to Prison

What happens when you drive over 100 MPH on the Garden State Parkway and elude police?

You go to prison.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on Friday, 27-year-old Raekwon Davis from Pemberton was sentenced to four years in state prison on a second-degree eluding law enforcement charge.

Dangerous Driving on the Garden State Parkway

According to authorities, on May 1st, 2023, Davis was driving on the Garden State Parkway and a state trooper observed him traveling at over 100 MPH, failing to maintain his lane of travel, tailgating, failing to signal, weaving in and out of cars, and passing other vehicles on the shoulder.

The trooper activated his lights and sirens for Davis to pull over. Davis then slowed down to around 20 MPH and pulled onto the shoulder at milepost 49 on the Mullica River Bridge.

Then, he sped away at a high rate of speed, eventually turning onto Exit 48 for Smithville, which has a sharp curve, where he nearly spun out of control.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
