The following day, police say they received seven separate reports of attempted motor vehicle thefts and damage to vehicles, specifically driver's side windows being smashed out and steering columns/ignitions being tampered with.

Then, just before noon on Wednesday, Glassboro police said they received a report of a stolen vehicle that had been parked behind Playa Bowls, near the Rowan University campus, with its keys inside and the vehicle running. That vehicle was located about 10 minutes later at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, unoccupied.

A second vehicle with the driver's window smashed and a flat tire was also found parked next to the stolen vehicle.

Teens Charged, Investigation Continues

According to officials, an investigation led to surveillance video that showed two males stealing the vehicle from the rear of the Whitney Center, who were eventually located and arrested in Whitney Crescent — 19-year-old Job Smith from Somerdale and a 17-year-old from Sewell.

Both have been charged with burglary, conspiracy, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Smith was remanded to Salem County Jail and the unidentified 17-year-old was released on a juvenile summons pending court.

Police say their investigation into the other stolen vehicles is still ongoing and additional information may be forthcoming. Anyone with information or who may be a potential victim is asked to contact the Glassboro Police Department at (856) 881-1500.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
