Guadagno on Deleted Tweet About Christie Unpopularity: No Big Deal
Bergen Record reporter Keldy Ortiz noticed Guadagno's tweet on Tuesday night and then took a picture of the message before it was deleted.
Speaking with Townsquare Media on Thursday, the Republican candidate for governor chalked it up to her age and lack of computer skills.
"I'm 57 years old," she said. "They didn't have computers when I went to college. The millennials have to do this," and said she depends on her millennial-age aides to help her with Twitter.
Guadagno did not deny that she deleted the Tweet and told Townsquare Media that an NJ.com reporter called her about it. She said it must have been a "slow news day" for her tweet to be considered a news story.
She told NJ.com that she "hit the wrong button. Simple as that"
The Quinnipiac poll did not have good poll news for Guadagno and showed Democrat Phil Murphy leading her 45-29 percent with 22 percent undecided. Murphy also led Guadagno among independent voters and Democrats. Guadagno leads Murphy among Republicans but voters were not asked about other candidates.
