Former Staffer for NJ Gov. Christie Gets 10 Years for Child Endangerment
A former staffer for former Gov. Chris Christie is headed to prison on a child endangerment charge.
Kevin Tomafsky Sentenced to 10 Years
The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office says on Friday, 43-year-old Kevin Tomafsky of Washington Township was sentenced to a decade behind bars after pleading guilty to first-degree endangering the welfare of a child back in July.
Tomafsky was arrested on December 14th, 2022, after a search warrant was executed at his home. During a search, detectives found devices belonging to Tomafsky that contained images of child sexual abuse and exploitation. A further investigation revealed that he shared those images online.
Political Background
The New Jersey Globe reported that Christie hired Tomafsky to work in the governor's scheduling office in June 2010 after he had spent eight years working on Republican campaigns in South Jersey. He also held a state government job, which he resigned from when he was arrested.
Tomafsky must serve at least half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. He will also be under parole supervision for life and register as a Megan's Law offender.
The charges against Anthony D'Alessandro, who was also arrested in this case, are still pending.
The charges against D'Alessandro are accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
