An alleged bank robber in South Jersey didn't get too far thanks to both quick-thinking employees and quick-acting police officers.

Suspect Flees With Cash from PNC Bank

At about 11:15 Thursday morning, cops with the Stratford Township Police Department were called to the PNC Bank branch on the White Horse Pike for a report of a bank robbery.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says officers at the scene learned that a suspect had entered the bank just minutes earlier, and he gave a demand note to a teller. After being given money, he fled on foot.

Police Quickly Locate and Arrest Suspect

Shortly thereafter, cops saw 39-year-old James Grady of Stratford, who matched a description of the suspect, walking along the White Horse Pike, where he was taken into custody.

Cops say they located the stolen money — and a PNC Bank pen — on his person.

Grady was charged with second-degree robbery and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Police and Employees Praised for Quick Action

Stratford Police Chief Ronald Morello said in a social media post, "I want to credit the bank employees who acted with exceptional composure — they remained calm under pressure and immediately contacted law enforcement. Because of their quick action, our officers were on scene within two minutes and were able to swiftly locate and apprehend the suspect while he was fleeing. Their vigilance made all the difference."

Recent Similar Robbery in Camden County

It was about two weeks ago that another alleged bank robber in Camden County was taken into custody within minutes of his heist.

In that case, prosecutors say 45-year-old Nathaniel Stroud, Jr., was charged with robbing a TD Bank branch in Cherry Hill. Cops were able to arrest him in 14 minutes.

Call for Information

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
