Gun Recovered, 2 Arrested During Car Stop in Atlantic City, NJ

Two people are facing charges during a traffic stop in Atlantic City Thursday afternoon.

At around 12:30, detectives with the Atlantic City Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop at Tennessee and Pacific Avenues.

During the stop, K9 Officer Michael Braxton and his K9 partner, Ryker, responded as back up. K9 Ryker, trained in narcotic detection, showed a positive indication for the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

The occupants, 25-year-old Khilid Scott of Philadelphia and 31-year-old Joseph Dixon of Atlantic City, were arrested after detectives allegedly recovered a loaded handgun, more than 48 grams of marijuana, and paraphernalia used in the distribution of drugs.

Dixon was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest.

Scott was charged with unlawful possession of weapon, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

Dixon was charged with unlawful possession of weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

Both men were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
