Victor Martinez of Hammonton, NJ, sentenced
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says Victor Martinez was sentenced on the following charges:
- First-degree unlawful possession of a handgun by a person previously convicted under the No Early Release Act
- Fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon
- Fourth-degree obstructing the administration of law
- Third-degree unlawful possession of a controlled dangerous substance

Crime timeline
Officials said that on February 29th, 2024, members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Egg Harbor City Police Department were conducting a drug investigation on London Avenue in Egg Harbor City. There, Martinez was stopped and searched, and inside of a backpack, cops found a Glock 9mm handgun with two extended magazines along with small amounts of crack cocaine and fentanyl.
Martinez did not have a permit for the gun, and authorities learned that he was previously conviction of second-degree robbery, which made having that firearm illegal.
During his guilty plea, Martinez also admitted that before that arrest in Egg Harbor City, he had been involved in two separate incidents in the same town where he brandished a pocketknife during an argument and he obstructed officers who were conducting a drug-related investigation.
Martinez’s cases were investigated by the Egg Harbor City Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. Assistant Prosecutor Chris D’Esposito of the Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office prosecuted Martinez’s cases on behalf of the State.
