A teenager from Texas has been charged with robbing a home in Egg Harbor Township over the weekend.

That robbery happened Sunday in the Scullville section of the municipality.

According to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Zachary Watts of Colleyville, Texas, fled the scene before officers arrived, but a caller provided a description of the individual as a white man with blond hair, wearing a grey sweatshirt and camouflage pants.

Officers quickly established a perimeter; Watts was located and taken into custody without incident.

According to police, Watts entered the home while it was unoccupied by tearing a screen that was on a basement window.

After gaining entry, Watts made his way to the master bedroom’s bathroom, where he stole additional property. The homeowner returned home during the burglary and confronted the suspect in the living room and kitchen area. Watts fled back downstairs and exited the home through the same basement window.

Police did not indicate why Watts was in Egg Harbor Township, some 1,400 miles from his hometown in the Lonestar State.

As of a press release from Sunday, Watts was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on pending charges.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
