They say that all good things must end.

I have been able to elude the COVID-19 virus for exactly 806 days.

Until this morning at 5:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, when I tested positive.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a public health emergency of international concern on January 30, 2020.

COVID-19 became a world pandemic on March 11, 2020.

As a broadcaster, I have taken a very public position of being compliant (personally) and providing as much responsible and intellectually honest coverage as possible … on-air and here on our digital platform.

I did my part. I’m double-vaccinated and “boosted.” Although most experts agree that not much of that protection remains at this point.

And, the current vaccine is for different COVID-19 variants that are no longer prevalent.

At one level, I like to keep my personal life private.

However, as a public figure, I feel a sense of duty to advise you about my present circumstances.

Yesterday morning, I woke up feeling fine. At about 7:00 a.m., I felt a slight sensation in my throat and the need to clear my throat.

About a 1/2 hour later, my wife Margie telephoned me to advise that she had just tested positive for COVID-19.

I immediately contacted our WPG Talk Radio 95.5 program director, Chris Coleman, who made immediate “Best of Hurley in the Morning” programming arrangements, so that I could leave as soon as possible.

Thank you Chris.

In the meanwhile, I was in direct contact with our COVID-19 expert, Dr. John McGee.

Dr. McGee immediately prescribed a regime of:

  • Azithromycin
  • Prednisone

I’m taking these prescriptions along with the following:

  • Vitamin D3
  • Vitamin C
  • Zinc
  • Allergy medication
  • Mucinex Fast-Max Cold & Flu

It’s important to note that Dr. McGee immediately treated my symptoms and did not wait for me to test positive.

FYI, Dr. McGee opted against prescribing us Paxlovid, because it is experimental in nature and his concerns about the potential side effects.

Dr. McGee has saved many lives during the COVID-19 health pandemic throughout the Alpha, Delta, Mu, and the various Omicron variants waves.

Yesterday, I twice tested negative.

Still, my symptoms yesterday included:

  • Low-grade fever (99.9)
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Sinus, ear congestion

This morning at 5:00 a.m., I tested positive for COVID-19.

After my first day of meds, I woke up this morning with a 97.9 temperature (normal for me) … it’s now 98.7 degrees as I write this article.

Please continue to tune in to “Hurley in the Morning,” as the show will go on while I recover.

Also, I intend to write 2 pieces of new digital content here daily.

At the present time, my symptoms are relatively mild. Margie and I are treating at home, under the great care of Dr. McGee.

Please remember, pay close attention to your body and any symptoms that may present. Early detection and beginning your prescribed course of care from your health care provider is most important.

From such a high at Talkers New York 2022 Convention last Friday, to the low of COVID-19 today; You just never know what twists and turns life will throw your way.

For my part, I choose to be an optimist. Life is too short to live it otherwise.

Thank you for reading.

PS: This is what a home test positive test looks like.
