There are so many sounds this time of year that bring a smile to the face of residents who just went through one of the worst winters in recent memory.

We have all been yearning for the sounds that remind us summer is here. We asked New Jersey residents which of those summer sounds are their favorites, and three answers emerged as the top ones.

Since we believe everything we read on the internet, we were able to crown those three sounds the most pleasant summer sounds according to New Jersey residents, and one of them might surprise you.

#3 Seagulls - Nobody wants a hungry seagull near them, but if they're flying by singing their song, many of you consider it your favorite sound.

#2 Crashing Waves - I thought it would be #1. I don't think there's a more peaceful, beautiful sound on the Earth, but it lands at #2, according to your votes.

#1 Food on the Grill - The sound of burgers, hot dogs, and steak sizzling on the grill got more votes than any other summer sound.

I'd like to add some honorable-mention summer sounds that I love. I love the sounds of kids at the boardwalk rides, the sound of summer rain on the ground, and the sound of a Jersey drawbridge opening. Summer is the most glorious time of the year, isn't it?
