If you've been finding it more inconvenient as usual to get around South Jersey this week, you're not the only one.

Believe it or not, there are a bunch of traffic patterns all around Atlantic County that have been disrupted this week due to roadwork. Issues in Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton Township, and now Galloway will continue to impact travel throughout the county over the course of the early days of Labor Day weekend. Luckily, they should be gone by the time the shoobies invade for the official last weekend of summer 2023.

First up, people from Egg Harbor Township had to deal with a lane shift on English Creek Avenue due to paving operations. The area particularly impacted was the High School Ave/Dogwood Avenue cross-streets. Luckily, the paving should be completed by Friday, September 1st. That's the goal, anyway.

Next, the people of Estell Manor and Corbin City were impacted due to county roadwork. Only local traffic was permitted through a section of River Road while crews were on the job. That also should be cleared by Friday.

At Weymouth Road in Hamilton Township, crews were hard at work fixing a drainage problem, so the road was reduced to a single lane. Again, they're hoping to have that project completed by the weekend, but we'll see.

There is now a new traffic advisory that's been announced leading into Labor Day Weekend for folks travelling along Pitney Road in Galloway. Work will be done to improve the roads, but it will impact commuters on what could be one of the busiest Fridays in the summer.

Atlantic County's official website published this update:

"On Friday, September 1, a full detour will in effect on Pitney Road in Galloway, between Jimmie Leeds Road and Ridgewood Avenue, 6 AM – 4 PM, weather permitting, for county road improvements.

Motorists should follow the posted detour and plan travel time accordingly or seek an alternate route."

Make sure you take the warning seriously. Plan an alternate route so you don't lose any time in traffic leading up to your Labor Day Weekend.
