Randy Quaid and John Kruk Named Grand Marshals for Ocean City’s Night in Venice
Actor Randy Quaid is best known for his portrayal of Cousin Eddie in National Lampoon's Vacation movies.
But this summer, he will be a big part of this year's Night in Venice festivities in Ocean City, along with Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster John Kruk.
On Saturday, July 25th, Ocean City’s 71st annual Night in Venice with Quaid and Kruk will serve as grand marshals.
The annual event on Ocean City's bay allows people to decorate their boats and homes and presents a fireworks display over the bayfront after the boat parade.
This year's theme: "Stars, Stripes and Christmas Lights," with the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States and “Christmas in July,” with the day falling exactly six months before the Christmas holiday.
Special Christmas Vacation Screening and Q&A Details
Quaid was a big part of the popular 1989 Christmas comedy National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, tying in the Christmas light part of this year's theme. He will appear at a special screening of “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation” at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Ocean City Tabernacle.
“Night in Venice is one of Ocean City's signature traditions, and we're thrilled to welcome Randy Quaid to help us celebrate this year's unique theme,” Mayor Jay Gillian said. “His iconic role in one of America's favorite holiday movies makes him the perfect grand marshal for a celebration that combines patriotism, Christmas spirit, and one of the country's most spectacular boat parades.”
Following the screening, fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a live Q&A with Quaid, where he will share stories from his career and discuss the making of the holiday classic.
Fans are encouraged to come dressed in their best Cousin Eddie-inspired attire
Tickets for the movie screening featuring a live Q&A with Quaid and VIP tickets are now available at oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice.

Phillies Legend John Kruk Joins the Festivities
Kruk has become a popular part of the Phillies broadcast team and was a key figure on the Phillies 1993 team that captured the National League championship, before falling to the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series.
“John Kruk has been a fan favorite for decades and remains one of the most recognizable personalities in baseball,” Mayor Jay Gillian said.
