Pleasantville Man Pleads Guilty to Theft, Resisting Arrest Charges
Pleasantville, N.J. — A Pleasantville man is expected to receive a three-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to theft and resisting charges.
Earlier this week, 21-year-old Jose Amaro pleaded guilty to third-degree theft of a motor vehicle and third-degree resisting arrest. His plea calls for a sentence of three years behind bars.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on December 12th of last year, Atlantic City Police were called to a business after Amaro refused to leave. He walked away from police and would not listen to their commands. An officer attempted to arrest him, but he kept pulling his arms away, tensing his arms, legs, and torso, dragging the officer around.
In a separate incident, ACPD officers were called to Albany Avenue in reference to a vehicle that was under the control of the defendant. Amaro told police multiple times that he stole the vehicle in question and he was arrested at the scene.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 7th.
