This is the first confirmation that a legendary Atlantic City, New Jersey Italian Restaurant that recently closed after 42 years in business has been sold … and, we can also confirm that it will be reopening in the future.

I have been hearing a number of rumors, so I went right to iconic restauranteur Alan Angeloni, the former owner and operator of Angeloni’s II Restaurant and Lounge.

Angeloni confirmed to me that “I have sold my business to a local businessman.”

Angeloni would not confirm the identity of the new owner, but, he did confirm that the restaurant will be reopening in the future.

I asked Angeloni if it would be reopening as Angeloni’s II Restaurant and Lounge?

Angeloni could not confirm if that will be the case.

I want to avoid speculation … however, would you buy The New York Yankees and change the name? So, we’ll just leave it at that and wait to see how the new owner will brand or rebrand the restaurant.

We interviewed Angeloni on his last day of operation (after 42 years) back on April 30, 2023. Angeloni said, "It is the hardest thing that I've ever had to deal with. Saying goodbye to customers who are now friends for all of these years and I'd also like to say that it is bitter sweet and I love everyone of my customers and my employees," said Angeloni.

When Angeloni announced one month before he was closing his restaurant … there was a line at his restaurant for 25 minutes before the doors opened each night.

It's a testament to the many loyal relationships that Angeloni has developed over more than 4 decades.

Here are some of my favorite Angeloni’s meals. Below are Chef Diane’s crab cakes, with literally no filler. They were perfect each and every time.

Alan Angeloni was also known for serving the finest Braciole in Atlantic City for decades.

This is a perfect example of the fine quality and attention to detail that Alan Angeloni exhibited over more than 4 decades in business.

In Italian-American cuisine, Braciole is a thinly sliced meat that is rolled into what is known as a roulade. It’s also known as involtini in Italian.

For those who loved Angeloni’s II Restaurant and Lounge, the next iteration will be opening on a date to still be determined at the corner of Arctic and Georgia Avenues in Atlantic City.
