Cops in Longport say two people responsible for multiple burglaries of homes in the borough were arrested early Sunday morning.

Before sunrise Sunday, according to police, officers discovered two suspicious people in the area of 23rd Avenue. As cops approached, those two people, later identified as 27-year-old Henry Gavitt of Blackwood and 18-year-old Tara Moskowitz of Delmont, fled.

After a chase, Longport officers requested the assistance of an officer from Ventnor with a K9. Around 6:45 that morning, the officer and K9 located Gavitt hiding in an outside shower of home in Longport between 11th and 12th Avenues. A short time later, cops found and arrested Moskowitz.

Longport Police say Gavitt and Moskowitz burglarized multiple residences within the borough and they are being charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, eluding, and hindering apprehension. Their investigation also revealed that the vehicle in their possession was stolen out of Washington Township.
