A Vineland man is facing charges in connection to a fire in Hamilton Township last month.

In the early morning hours of August 16th, Hamilton Township Police received a 9-1-1 call about a fire near the intersection of West Point and Fulton Avenues in the Mizpah section of the township. Responding officers located a shed on fire and the blaze was quickly extinguished.

During the investigation, cops say 35-year-old Matthew Hesser of Vineland, who, according to police, called 9-1-1 to report the fire, was identified as a suspect.

On Thursday, Hesser was interviewed by detectives and charged with arson and criminal mischief for intentionally starting the fire. He was released on a summons pending a court appearance.
