The Atlantic City, New Jersey Housing Authority is completely out of control and United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, R-NJ-2 wants to do something about it.

We have obtained a copy of a February 13, 2024 letter written by Van Drew to Marcia Fudge, the Secretary of the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Here it is for your review:

Van Drew has been supporting the underserved residents of the Stanley Holmes Village Apartments throughout their many challenges over the years.

Many residents have been living without heat and hot water for more than two years. They also live in rodent and bug infested conditions.

Matt Doherty, the former Executive Director of the Atlantic City Housing Authority was doing everything possible to serve these needy residents.

Doherty also uncovered numerous problems within the Atlantic City Housing Authority agency and had begun to reveal his findings to the public at large.

The Atlantic City Housing Authority Board moved fast to fire Doherty, without cause.

Conventional wisdom is that the Board fired Doherty to stop him from revealing their years of what Van Drew describes as an “example of the ineptitude and malfeasance of the Atlantic City Housing Authority,” said Van Drew in his February 13, 2024 letter to Marcia Fudge.

Doherry will be our on-air guest on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 8:05 a.m. to review the poor handling of moving 19 Atlantic City families from the Stanley Holmes Village homes to the Claridge Hotel.

The Atlantic City Housing Authority purposes kept residents in the dark about their temporary move to the Claridge.

Instead of giving these residents 1 month’s advanced notice, which they could have done … instead, the residents only received a couple of days advanced notice to move their entire lives.

About this, Van Drew said:

The food accommodations being made are scarce, and absolutely no consideration was given to residents whose beloved pets are explicitly not allowed in the hotel. Instead of working with the community to set expectations and aid community members in this transition, they announced it suddenly, jarringly, and with zero clarity, wrote Can Drew in his letter to Marcia Fudge.

Here is a copy of the documents sent to the residents, dated February 8, 2024:
