Get ready for the big day of love twice a year in NJ if an Assemblyman has his way.

Last week, State Assemblyman John McKeon introduced a resolution in the lower house that would designate August 14, 2014 as “Half St. Valentine’s Day” because of New Jersey’s wintery weather this past February.

The resolution (AR115) would request Gov. Chris Christie issue a proclamation not only recognizing the day, but calling upon “public officials and citizens of New Jersey to celebrate the day with appropriate activities and events.”

I'll admit when I first read this I thought to myself "don't we have more important things to worry about?"

I'm sure we do, but there is some logic behind this idea.

The point of the resolution is to help local businesses that were hurt when many couples canceled their Valentine’s Day plans because of snow and cold weather.

TELL US! Is this a decent idea or a waste of time? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
