Vandals Destroy Baseball Equipment For Handicapped Children in Gloucester County, NJ

Authorities in Monroe Township, Gloucester County, are asking for your help identifying two people wanted for breaking into a Little League building and destroying equipment and facilities.

And while all vandalism is senseless, to make this situation even worse, what was demolished was designed for handicapped children to enjoy the sport.

According to a social media post, vandals made the concession stand inoperable and they nearly completely destroyed one bathroom.

Beyond that, one shed was destroyed, gutters were ripped down, a lockbox was broken off of a door, and equipment used by the children was stolen.

Heather Brown, manager of the league told WPVI-TV, "I was devastated this morning. I had to cancel tomorrow's game."

Jimmy Magee, president of the Monroe Township Little League, told 6ABC, "What's going through my head right now is a little bit of anger. It's a volunteer organization and we do everything voluntarily through the community here."

Help children

Within hours of the news spreading across the township, members of the community immediately stepped-up to help. On social media, numerous residents offered to clean-up and donate equipment so the league can resume its games and practices.

Beyond that, the league would gladly take any donations of baseball equipment.

If you happen to have any equipment laying around; we would love to take it off your hands. We are looking to replace bats, helmets, and gloves that were stolen. The children range in ages – so we need everything from youth sizes to adult sizes.
