In the wake of significant violent behavior being exhibited by juveniles in Ocean City and Wildwood, New Jersey, during the Memorial Day holiday weekend … the New Jersey State PBA is requesting that changes must be made to the juvenile policing policies in New Jersey.

New Jersey State PBA President, Peter Andreyev said:

The recent juvenile outbursts are a sign that more needs to be done to allow police to protect our communities. This past weekend is just more proof that the law is broken, there needs to be real consequences for violent drunken and dangerous behavior for both juveniles and adults, said Andreyev.

Ocean City Mayor Jay Gilliam and Wildwood Mayor Ernie Trioano have each released  unambiguous, stern criticisms about the violence.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland also released a powerful statement regarding the juvenile violence.

Wildwood actually was forced to issue a State of Emergency and shut the Boardwalk down this past Sunday night … which is unprecedented, at any time, let alone, one of the busiest major holiday weekends of the year.

The violent offenders were mostly juveniles, along with some young adults.

Due to changes in New Jersey policing policies … police officers are now handcuffed when it comes to dealing with juvenile offenders.
