You might be in for a bit of a shock while shopping in this old building. Selling Christmas goods all year round, this jolly Winterwood Gift Shop in Rio Grande has a little Halloween surprise for its visitors.

Yes- we are talking about a ghost. The store owners have named the ghost “Hestor” after an old spinster who once lived there and died in 1949. Hestor seems to be friendly, accused only of apparitions, flickering lights, moving objects and creating footsteps.

The store itself is inside of what used to be the home of one of Cape May County’s founding families, the Hildreths, who built the structure in 1772. A plaque by the entrance to the house warns visitors not to be afraid of the ghost.

So, if you're up to a little ghost buster action check it out and let us know if you have any paranormal encounters with Hestor!
