Cops in Atlantic City say a 66-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Atlantic Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

The Atlantic City Police Department says at about 4:15 PM Wednesday, their officers responded to Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

When they arrived, they found 66-year-old Jill Collette of Atlantic City suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division where she was pronounced dead.

An initial investigation found Collette was walking across Atlantic Avenue in the crosswalk when the traffic signal for the opposite flow of traffic turned green. 69-year-old Daniel Sitarski of Brigantine was heading westbound on Atlantic Avenue and hit Collette.

Police say Sitarski immediately stopped and remained on scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
