Police in Egg Harbor Township say a pedestrian was struck and killed on the Black Horse Pike Sunday night.

According to authorities, the accident happened at around 8PM Sunday on the Black Horse Pike in the area of Palermo Avenue in the West Atlantic City section of the Township.

An investigation revealed a sport utility vehicle being driven by 26-year-old Jesse Oliver-Logan of Egg Harbor Township was traveling westbound on the Black Horse Pike. Police say 44-year-old Pedro Silva was walking across the Pike near that intersection and while crossing the Pike, Silva walked directly into the road and was struck by Oliver-Logan's vehicle. Silva was pronounced dead at the scene.

WPVI-TV reports the driver did stop at the site of the crash; NJ.com reports Oliver-Logan has not been charged.

This section of the Black Horse Pike is divided with a concrete barrier and there are no marked crosswalks for several blocks in either direction.

The Black Horse Pike was closed for nearly five hours and crews cleared the scene and investigated the accident.
