The Atlantic City Police Department says four more people have been arrested on child luring charges after they received tips and information from concerned citizens.

Authorities say members of the group (i.e. the "concerned citizens") pose as underage children on various social media sites. They then confront individuals trying to meet those children and then they notify local law enforcement agencies. Screenshots of conversations and detailed information that was shared are given to cops as evidence.

All four were released on a summons with a future court date.

This is not the first time a group of "concerned citizens" got people arrested for child luring. Just two months ago, two men, one from Atlantic City and another from Pennsylvania, were arrested in the World's Play Ground after they allegedly attempted to lure young boys. Just before those arrests, a Gloucester County man was arrested in Brigantine for allegedly doing the same thing. Police have not officially said if it's the same group of citizens behind each case.

The public is reminded that charges are mere accusations and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Over the past few years, state lawmakers have taken on the challenge of dealing with accused child predators among the ranks of teachers and educators.

In 2018, the so-called “pass the trash” law went into effect, requiring stricter New Jersey school background checks related to child abuse and sexual misconduct.

The follow individuals were arrested over the past several years. Some have been convicted and sentenced to prison, while others have accepted plea deals for probation.

Others cases are still pending, including some court delays amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
