An Absecon police officer was injured after a driver crashed into his patrol vehicle Friday night.

According to the Absecon Police Department, an officer was conducting a traffic stop on Route 30 near Shore Road around 9:30 Friday night when 32-year-old Juan Roman-Duran of Pleasantville, who was driving by, crashed into both the police car and the vehicle that was pulled over.

Police say,

The investigation revealed, Roman-Duran was operating his vehicle while intoxicated and with a minor child in the vehicle. The Absecon officer was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Roman-Duran was charged with driving while intoxicated, assault by auto, endangering the welfare of children, DWI with minor passenger, and other related traffic violations.

Route 30 was reduced to one lane for about two hours while the crash was investigated and the scene was cleared.
