Three serious incidents in the span of about five hours the past Sunday morning in Atlantic City resulted in two people being arrested.

The Atlantic City Police Department says at about 5:30, their officers were called to Georgia and Pacific Avenues for a report of a man bleeding.

There, they found 41-year-old Luis Mateo of Ewing suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police say Mateo, who was uncooperative with officers and detectives, was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division to be treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Less than 90 minutes later, Officer Martina Martin located the stolen vehicle being driven by Chreshull Rucker. Officer Martin attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop but Rucker fled. He ultimately failed to stop at a red traffic signal at Pennsylvania and Atlantic Avenues where he crashed into another vehicle before leaving the roadway and striking multiple objects including a fence and sign.

Police say Rucker attempted to flee on foot but was taken into custody. During a search of the stolen vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun and pocket knife.

While investigating that incident, officers responded to the first block of South Kentucky Avenue for a man who was stabbed.
