Somers Point Man Charged in Fatal Atlantic City Shooting
A Somers Point man has been arrested and is facing a list of charges including felony murder in connection to a fatal shooting in Atlantic City on November 22nd.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner says 24-year-old Oshshakkur Derrick has been charged with felony murder, kidnapping, unlawful possession of a weapon, attempted robbery, robbery, and attempted murder.
Authorities say in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 22nd, the Atlantic City Police Department received a 911 call about a man who had been shot in a home on the 100 block of N. Pennsylvania Ave. When they arrived, they found 36-year-old Jose Ortiz of Egg Harbor Township suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center-City Campus where he was pronounced dead.
Tyner's office says this remains an ongoing investigation that involves several law enforcement agencies. As the investigation continues, authorities are still asking for the public's help identifying an additional person of interest in the picture above.
