Atlantic City activist Steve Young now says he will not paint "Black Lives Matter" on the Boardwalk Friday afternoon.

Instead, Young says he will join Mayor Marty Small and participate in a city-sponsored event where the phrase will be painted on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

KYW-TV reports Young's event will still take place in front of Boardwalk Hall at 1:00 and he will then join the mayor at 2:30.

Young joining the Mayor comes as the city is trying to strip him of the two positions he holds in Atlantic City. Young organized a protest on the 4th of July which briefly closed the Atlantic City Expressway. He was arrested at that event, which prompted the removal action.
