I am a big fan of Spirit Air and also a fan of Ted Christie, who just abruptly resigned as Spirit Air Chief Executive Officer.

Christie navigated Spirit Air through some very turbulent times (pun intended).

In fact, as they say in the game of life … timing is everything.

Christie skillfully managed what should have been a successful merger … only to be derailed by the previous Biden Administration.

Those attempted mergers were clean as a whisky’s and should have received federal approvals.

Had the mergers been spirited then the recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing would not have been necessary and the Atlantic City hub likely could have remained.

Still Christie and Spirit Sir has continued to serve Atlantic City Internationally Airport customers very well.

My Family and I fly many round trips each year from ACY to Orlando, Florida.

Spirit Air and ACY consistently comes through for us.

The abrupt Christie resignation comes a surprise as he was just about to become eligible for a $3.8 million retention bonus.

Christie was managing a complicated restructuring efforts, along with a recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

On March 12, 2015, Spirit Airlines put out a statement.

This statement detailed that Spirit Air had emerged from Chapter 11 and had reduced its debt by about $ 795 million in debt through what’s called a “consensual deleveraging plan.”

During our most recent flight on March 31, 2025, I took some photos of Spirit Air planes:
