Two Arrested, Handgun Recovered in Atlantic City
Two people, believed to be suspects in an armed robbery but later determined they were not involved, were arrested anyway for having active warrants, a loaded gun, and drugs.
Atlantic City Police say around 11:30 Thursday night, they were called to the Fox Manor in the 2700 block of Pacific Avenue for the report of an armed robbery. Officers were able to obtain a description of three suspects that were involved in the heist. Detectives spotted 28-year-old Earl Cooper of Pleasantville and 21-year-old Katie Fisher of Toms River, both matching descriptions of the robbery suspects.
Cops say both were arrested after being found to have active warrants for their arrest. A loaded handgun was found in Fisher’s backpack and Cooper was found in possession of marijuana, according to police.
An investigation by detectives revealed that Cooper and Fisher were not the suspects in the robbery at the Fox Manor.
The investigation into that incident continues. Meanwhile, Cooper was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, certain person not to possess a weapon, and an active warrant; he was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Fisher was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and an active warrant and remanded to the Ocean County Justice Facility.
