The Ventnor City Police Department announced it will hold a DWI checkpoint this weekend.

The DWI checkpoint will be Saturday from 10PM to 3AM.

While not disclosing the exact location of the checkpoint, police said it will be set up in a highly visible area, which hopefully will discourage people from drinking and driving.

In a press release earlier this year, Ventnor Police said the DWI checkpoints would be funded by money collected in fines levied against those found guilty of driving while intoxicated, with additional funding from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police say the real success of the checkpoints will be when no DWI arrests are made, as the prevention of drunken driving is the main goal.
