Walgreens Shutting Down Pleasantville Location This Month

It was recently announced that Walgreens will be closing more than 20 stores this month, and soon, there will be one fewer location in South Jersey.

Why Is Walgreens Closing Stores?

According to Newsweek, in an effort to boost revenue, they will shutter underperforming locations, including one in Atlantic County.

CEO's Statement on Store Closures

"We are confident it will yield significant financial and consumer benefits over the long term," CEO Tim Wentworth said.

CVS and Other Chains Join the Trend

CVS made a similar announcement, along with a few other national chains, like Dollar General and TD Bank. At this time, there are no CVS locations in the area that are closing, but there is one Walgreens location. Walgreens announced it would be closing nearly 1,200 underperforming stores across the country back in October.

Which Walgreens Store in South Jersey Is Closing?

Walgreens will be closing its Pleasantville location at 855 N Main Street, with the closing date announced as June 23, and has a message on their website confirming the closure.

The Walgreens was in the site that was formerly a Rite Aid, which also closed many of its South Jersey locations. The Walgreens at 505 W Black Horse Pike also closed back in February of 2024 and is available to lease.
