Wednesday: 2 New COVID-related Deaths, Testing Postponed Due to Weather

A 91-year-old woman from Egg Harbor Township and an 83-year old man from Hammonton are the latest COVID-related deaths reported by officials in Atlantic County.

Authorities say both were residents of long-term care facilities who had pre-existing health conditions that contributed to their deaths.

Officials also confirmed 25 more people have tested positive for the virus on Wednesday -- 12 men (ages 28 to 80) and 13 women (ages 18 to 96). Thirty more residents have been cleared as recovered.

Today's relatively low number of new cases comes after the county reported over 100 positive cases on both Monday and Tuesday. Authorities say the spike was because the state is working to provide testing at 16 long-term care facilities. Positive cases in these facilities are now being included in the county’s daily counts. As more testing is completed, more positive cases are being identified.

Mullica Township - 3
Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton Township, Northfield - 2 each
Buena Borough, Buena Vista, Estell Manor, Port Republic - 1 each

Due to stormy weather in the forecast, testing scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, April 30th) has been postponed. Those with appointments for tomorrow will be automatically rescheduled for Monday, May 4th, at the same time.

The county has also announced that testing will continue next Tuesday, May 5th, and Thursday, May 7th, by appointment only, for symptomatic county residents with a doctor’s prescription at Hamilton Mall. For a complete list of qualifications and to make an appointment, visit the county's website.
