What You Can Do Online With the MVC During Budget Shutdown

TRENTON — Even though no employees will be inside offices of the Motor Vehicle Commission on Monday, there's still a lot of business that you can get done on their website.

The shutdown of state government means all MVC offices will remain closed including all branches, testing centers, and inspection facilities.

According to the MVC website, these services are available online:

Drivers

• Register as an organ donor (user ID number required before use)
• Donate to the organ donor fund
• Change your Address
• Submit next-of-kin information
• Pay your Restoration Fee
• Pay Parking/Traffic Ticket (service provided by NJ Courts)
• Pay Your Surcharge
• Request Your Driver History Record (user ID number required before use)
• Schedule A Road Test
• Create a MyMVC account

Vehicles

• Change Your Address
• Renew Vehicle Registration
• Find An Emission Repair Facility
• Find a Private Inspection Facility
• Find A State Inspection Station
• Schedule an Inspection
• Pay Parking/Traffic Ticket (service provided by NJ Courts)
• Order Personalized Plates (user ID number required before use)
• Order Sports Plates (user ID number required before use)
• Order Dedicated Plates (user ID number required before use)
• View inspection results

Drivers can also get license abstracts online, and download forms needed to bring to the MVC offices when they reopen after the shutdown.

Drivers at the MVC's Bakers Basin office and other locations were greeted with the posters that laid blame for the shutdown on Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto. .

No announcement has been made regarding licenses and inspections that expire during the shutdown. In 2006 extensions were granted once the offices were reopened.
