Back in April, the Diocese of Camden announced that five local schools, including Wildwood Catholic and St. Joe's of Hammonton, would be closing their doors.

Today, Wildwood Catholic Academy was born.

According to a press release, the school will open its doors on July 1, 2020, after weeks of fund raising to help keep the school open.

Wildwood Catholic is one of the top boys basketball programs in the area, winning three-straight boys basketball Cape-Atlantic League titles.

As for St. Joe's of Hammonton, which has one of the top high school football programs in the state, negotiations continue and no decision has been made yet about that school's future.
