Wildwood, NJ, Police Seize 4 Semi-automatic Guns From One Car, 3 Arrested
Three people are facing charges after Wildwood Police say they seized four semi-automatic guns from one car Friday night.
Authorities say at around 7:40, officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 east block of Pine Avenue.
During the motor vehicle stop, a handgun was observed in plain view while officers were attempting to gather the driver’s information. Shortly thereafter, one of the occupants identified as 19-year-old Dashawn Robinson of Willingboro, NJ fled from the scene.
After a brief foot pursuit, Robinson was apprehended and taken into custody.
Two other passengers, 18-year-old Kydir Elliot and 20-year-old Nizere Mingo, both of Willingboro, were also taken into custody.
Police say the vehicle, a 2020 Nissan Sentra, was searched and they recovered four semi-automatic handguns.
- .45 caliber Glock model 21 handgun
- 9mm SCCY model CPX-2 handgun with high-capacity magazine
- .380 caliber Diamondback DB380 with high-capacity magazine
- 9mm Glock model 19 with high-capacity magazine containing hollow point ammunition
The Glock 21 was found to be reported stolen.
As a result of this investigation, the defendants were charged with four counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, third-degree receiving stolen property, fourth-degree possession of hollow point ammunition, and fourth-degree possession of large capacity magazine.
Robinson received an additional charge for fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight.
All three defendants were incarcerated at the Cape May County Correctional Center in accordance with the State Attorney General guidelines.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
