24,000 Without Power in the Wildwoods, NJ, Following Substation Fire
Just as a busy weekend is about to begin, 24,000 people throughout the Wildwoods are without power following a fire at a substation earlier this afternoon.

Atlantic City Electric says the blaze started around noon at their substation on Susquehanna Avenue between West Oak and West Wildwood Avenues.
We are currently working to determine opportunities to reroute electricity to restore service safely. We understand how disruptive this can be and appreciate your patience as estimated restoration times develop.
Police across the island are asking drivers to use extreme caution as all traffic signals are out. Drivers approaching a dark traffic light are to consider that intersection a four-way stop.
In a statement Friday afternoon, Atlantic City Electric said,
We currently do not have an estimate on when we will have service restored for all customers. The fire has been contained. The cause of the fire is currently not known and will be investigated.
This is a developing story that will be updated when more information becomes available.
