Atlantic County, New Jersey Sheriff Eric Scheffler had been silent for 4 days following the news that United States President Joe Biden might move migrants from New York City to the Atlantic City International Airport.

This bad idea had been immediately met by universal rejection from almost every elected official of both major political parties … namely, United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, R-NJ-2, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina, R-2, Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson and countless others at the state, county and local levels.

Here’s  another case in point, Republican Atlantic County Commissioner Andrew Parker and Democrat Atlantic County Commissioner Ernest Coursey have joined together to craft a unity resolution in unconditional opposition to relocating New York City migrants to Atlantic City International Airport.

The Parker - Coursey resolution will be voted upon this Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the next regular meeting of the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Commissioners.

I commend this display of bipartisanship during such a critical moment of truth.

Coursey also serves as Chief of Staff for Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small.

It cannot be overstated how destabilizing this migrant invasion could be. The demand on Atlantic County social services, hospitals, schools and every other aspect of society would be life changing.

This is where Eric Scheffler comes into play.

After Scheffler said and did absolutely nothing, in favor of playing it “safe” and waiting to see how this would play out … Scheffler finally made a social media post (see it directly below):

The above is the exact right public statement for a County Constitutional Officer to make.

The problem, a short while later, Scheffler took his own post down.

It’s obvious that the reason is because certain Democrats took exception to it … Scheffler is running in a very tough re-election campaign against challenger Joe O’Donoghue this November.

Prior to deleting his own post, it had generated a lot of criticism. Scheffler is being strategic and chose politics over principle.

We interviewed O’Donoghue at length about this, who said:

“OUR SHERIFF DELETED HIS COMMENT ON THE 60,000+NYC migrants Biden wants to bring to Atlantic City Airport, said O’Donoghue.

“I began 4 days ago go calling upon our Sheriff to denounce this issue of transferring 60,000+ NYC migrants to our Atlantic City International Airport, the home of our 177th Fighter Wing that protects the entire East Coast. The airport is in Egg Harbor Township where I am presently a committeeman.”

”Yesterday a bipartisan press conference was held in Atlantic City where the only Democrat who was notably absent was my opponent who currently holds the Constitutional Office of the Atlantic County Sheriff. After waiting almost 4 days, he finally published a statement on numerous Social Media sites agreeing with the bipartisan acknowledgment that EHT and Atlantic County could not possibly support up to 100,000 unvetted migrants specially not on our airport or military base.”

”Shortly after posting and receiving unfavorable comments, the Sheriff knelt to the pressure and DELETED HIS POSTING OF SUPPORT.”

“This is political pandering at the cost of security and safety to the citizens of Atlantic County. I reiterate what I have said in the past, the luxury of American Citizenship must be earned and valued but not assumed. When elected as your Constitutional Sheriff I will never be afraid to take a stance and take action on any issues that involve public safety for the people of Atlantic County,” said O’Donoghue.

History may be about to repeat itself. Scheffler appears to fancy himself as the next Atlantic County Executive.

Another former Democrat Atlantic County Sheriff, Jim McGettigan thought that he was going to be the next Atlantic County Executive.

Instead, he was defeated the next time that he ran for  re-election for the position he already held, which was Atlantic County Sheriff.

Scheffler being absent on this critical subject for 4 days … then, finally posting a proper comment … then, promptly deleting it, is a public disgrace and it’s for the Atlantic County electorate to decide this November 7, 2023 if it’s terminable.
